Birthday Dinner for an Angell
Over the weekend, I had the pleasure of curating an amazing table scape fit for a queen! That queen just so happened to be my God mother Angell. She definitely lives up to her name because she is definitely my guardian Angell here on earth! She is always supportive, always patient, always caring, and always selfless. She holds her head high at all times. She's meticulous about her belongings and even more meticulous about her spirit! She's the woman who's taught me to trust God, and only him to see me through every situation. She's gentle with me and I appreciate her for that. So! With that being said, you can now understand why we decided to do a grand table scape for her surprise birthday dinner. Because we were so pressed for time, I was going to get out of my own way and just do "something small and intimate", however my heart cannot allow me to do anything less than grand. Especially for such a grand lady!
She’s the woman who’s taught me to trust God, and only him to see me through every situation. She’s gentle with me and I appreciate her for that.
My husband, a few of her close friends, and I decided to clear a room in her basement to do the set up. I utilized two 6ft banquet tables aligning them together to create one long table set for 12 people. What I enjoyed most about this set up is that I dressed the table in 90% Home Goods products. Being that this was not an event per say, I wanted it to have a home-y feel to it, yet extremely royal and elegant.
I like to challenge myself as a designer to create concepts using everyday items, especially relatively inexpensive items. And of course, at Home Goods you can find one small piece of an item and just go off into a whole other universe. Next thing you know you're shamefully pushing two over-flowing carts through the check out line! I'm not alone right?..... hope not LOL!
Elements to Look Out For
- Snakeskin Print Gold Chargers
-Gold Beaded Napkin Rings
-Ivory Linen Napkin with Gold Moroccan Print
-The Hydrangea/Rose/Orchid Centerpiece
-The Home Goods STEAL: Gold Iron Candleabras... They were at least 36" tall, which put them about 6ft from the ground. It's just a dinner party in the basement, why not?
